Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; officials are presently not aware of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important political figure commented the vandalism left him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
