The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Frustration Over Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she said.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
